Muyang is a language originally spoken in the Mayo-Sava district of the Cameroonian High North region. According to the Atlas Linguistique du Cameroun, she belongs to the subgroup of Wandala Mafa languages, which in turn belong to the Phylum of Chadic languages, whereas according to ethnology they are to be classified as Biu Mandara language. The Ethnologue estimates the number of Muyang spokespersons at up to 30,000 people, most of whom work in agriculture and are still largely resident in their original area of origin, although a not insignificant number of Muyang spokespeople also live in the south-adjacent northern region. The present dictionary contains approximately 5,500 Muyang words, for each of which the French and English translations or definitions are given. This is complemented by numerous application examples and photographic illustrations. To reverse the keyword search, the dictionary also includes three indexes, each listing the Muyang words that correspond to French, English and scientific terms. In addition, the introductory part of the book provides a brief introduction to phonology and a summary of the grammar of Muyang, while the appendix contains hints on the spelling of the language as well as a list of proper name. Thanks to the extensive linguistic material and the sentence examples, this dictionary is not only of interest to speakers of Muyang who wish to write their native language and thereby preserve their cultural heritage, but also to Africanists and linguists.--Amazon.prime
